"Mrs. McKay luckily reached an exit and was able to retain a foothold on a platform of an unfinished fire escape until a fireman hoisted a ladder, which she assisted him in placing in position, after which she safely reached the ground. She was also badly burned about the face." (Niles Daily Star)
