OTHER NOTES:

Identified by father Charles, who lived at 24 Keith Street in Chicago and was hosting Alfred and Margaret.  Albert was killed in the Iroquois Theatre Fire along with his girlfriend, Margaret Love.

"The bodies of Alfred Alfson and Miss Margaret Love were not recovered until Thursday and Friday respectively. A vest to a suit of clothes which he wore in the hands of his aged father, Charles Alfson, was the only means of identification in Alfson's case, as his body was so badly burned  he could not be recognized.  The body of Miss Love, however, was uninjured. There was not one single disfiguring mark on it,  Death to her was easier, undoubtedly, as it is presumed she died from inhalation of the deadly fumes and smoke."  (Woodstock Sentinel)

Albert's funeral was held Sunday, Jan 3, 1904, at 1 pm in Chicago, conducted by Rev. Newton A. Sunderlin (1849-1935) of the First United Methodist Church in Woodstock.  Two other pastors participated.  Reverends Loomis and Hanson were from the family's church, the Second Swedish Methodist Episcopal Church in Chicago. Two hundred guests attended, over half of them from Woodstock, IL, including his Sunday School class.  Albert was described as religiously devout and newspaper references to his activities seem to bear that out.  He was buried at Mount Olive Cemetery in Chicago.
